Coffee Story
Description
About Game APK
The game transports players to a dreamworld filled with enigmatic creatures and surreal scenarios. As reality begins to blend with dreams, the protagonist and the world undergo significant transformations.
Protagonist’s Journey
Upon awakening from a peculiar dream, the protagonist finds himself slowly morphing into a mysterious girl he encountered in that same dream. To prevent these changes from becoming permanent, he adopts the identity of a fictional person and integrates into a new school life as a girl while searching for a way to reverse these alterations.
The Dream World Adventure
The protagonist is supported by his friends Yuri, Kari, and Nanami as they delve into their intricate connections with the dream world and reality. Yuri grapples with perpetual nightmares, believing that his presence in her dreams might bring moments of tranquility. Nanami views the dream world as an escape from her hardships. Meanwhile, Kari conceals a fractured psyche that adds complexity to their relationships.
Game Mechanics and Puzzle Solving
The gameplay is cryptic, with challenging puzzles and an abundance of text. Players must discover the game’s mechanics through trial and error as there is no official walkthrough available. However, most of the storyline can be experienced without fully exploring the dream world in this release.
Game State and Technical Details
The game is still in an incomplete state, featuring some mechanics or story segments that may not make sense yet. It is likely to include bugs and crashes. Any issues that are not reported won’t be addressed.
Gameplay Modes and Content
The game offers a “Freeplay” mode where players can explore the Dream World as Anne without the story, disabling the narrative elements. The game contains mature themes such as pregnancy, parasites, forced feminization, and gender swaps. However, it may not run smoothly on outdated hardware due to its demanding graphical requirements, including 120 4096×4096 textures that are mostly loaded at once.
Visuals and Character Design
The game features animated pixelart at a world scale, with no CG images. Characters are composed of many interchangeable hand-drawn sprites layered on top of each other. For example, the head alone consists of swappable irises, eye shapes, front hair, back hair, mouth, eyebrows, and special effects with various palettes. Environments are a mix of custom sprite-work and rescaled or edited asset packs tailored to fit character proportions. The target resolution is 1280×720, which can be rescaled but not increased in area view. The target framerate is 60fps, which increases the speed of animations by design.
Narrative and Player Choice
The narrative is presented through dialogue and visual storytelling, with no prose. Player choices can range from superficial to story-altering decisions. The tone varies from slice-of-life comedy to existential horror. While the protagonist exhibits agency and participates in conversations, the narrative is primarily driven by NPCs.
Gameplay Phases
The gameplay consists of two phases: a life simulation where the protagonist interacts with characters and manages a stat system during the day, and the dream world where the protagonist navigates esoteric puzzles and monsters at night. There is no traditional loss condition in the game, though nuisances and annoyances encourage players to engage with its mechanics.
Audio and Controls
The audio experience includes ambiance, music, and sound effects. The default control scheme aims to simulate typical RPG maker controls and WASD standards, but players can remap controls if needed. The game supports limited mouse functionality for movement and some in-game menu navigation.
Connection to Ukuzala
The characters in this game are familiar to those who played Coffee Extra: Ukuzala, as they were used in a previous exercise to practice character development. However, there is no direct connection between this spin-off and the main game, leaving it up to interpretation.
